Injury Update: Jo Shimoda and Lucas Coenen

Injury Update Jo Shimoda and Lucas Coenen

Jo Shimoda, who came into the weekend holding the 250‑class lead, was ruled out of Southwick Pro Motocross following a heavy crash left him with a concussion and a broken collarbone.

After qualifying 11th, the former red‑plate holder is now facing a spell on the sidelines with his hopes of being champion dashed. Further details to come.

Lucas Coenen

Fresh off clocking the fastest 450 qualifier at Southwick, KTM star Lucas Coenen went down hard in the opening moto and opted to sit out the rest of the day. Thankfully, it appears he’s largely okay.

Ian Harrison, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager, has since provided an update, stating: "Lucas showed tremendous speed through practice and then had a crash in the first moto and took a really hard hit. We got him and the bike back to the truck, and we're checking the bike to make sure that there is nothing there, and he decided that he would not race for the rest of the day. I get it, next weekend he has a GP - he's leading the championship - so I get that part, and I am glad they came over. They definitely tried their best, we can't say that they held anything back, and it was a great day with them."
