Injury Update: Justin Barcia and Malcolm Stewart
Following their horrific crash at the opening round of the 2026 AMA Supercross season in Anaheim, updates have been provided by the teams of Justin Barcia and Malcolm Stewart.
To start with Barcia, and his Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing team manager Josh Wisenor reflected on both the highs and lows of the evening, expressing pride in the team's performance prior to the crash before offering some information about Barcia's condition.
“To see both our riders and two Ducatis battling it out in the heat race was very exciting and a proud moment for the Ducati brand. Bam unfortunately got [tangled] up with Malcolm and had a big get-off. Bam was conscious, coherent, answering questions, and talking to medical staff. He waved to the fans on their way out, so we're taking the positives from that and will keep you posted as we learn more," stated Wisenor.
UPDATE: Barcia has since confirmed he broke a little wing on his back and doesn’t require surgery.
Then, in the case of Stewart, and while things were looking positive early on when he recorded sixth position in his heat race. Stewart's night would come to an abrupt end in the main event after the aforementioned scary incident on the first lap. It was confirmed in the Husqvarna press release that he sustained a left shoulder injury in the impact, with further updates on his status to be made when available.
