Prado penalised for post‑race gesture

Jorge Prado has been fined and docked a licence point after an inappropriate gesture during a tense post‑race exchange with Cooper Webb.

Prado ran up front for most of the 450SX main, but late pressure from Justin Cooper and Cooper Webb shuffled him to third. Cooper slipped past for second, while Webb’s last‑corner lunge came up short. Prado made his frustration clear after the flag, sparking another verbal exchange between the pair. A gesture in the next rhythm lane drew the attention of officials, who later issued a penalty. The Salt Lake City flashpoint adds another chapter to their simmering rivalry after clashes in Detroit and Denver.

"Race direction reviewed an incident involving rider #26 (Prado) and rider #1 (Webb) in section eight after the finish line. After review, it was determined that rider #26 (Prado) violated the code of conduct by using an obscene hand gesture during the competition. Rider #26 (Prado) was assessed one rider licence point and a fine," read the official explanation on the issue.
