Ferrandis to retire after SMX finale

Dylan Ferrandis has announced that he will retire from professional racing following the 2026 SMX finale in Ridgedale, bringing the curtain down on a decorated career that included 450MX and 250MX titles, along with multiple 250SX West championships.

The Frenchman has spent the 2026 season with Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing, playing a key role in the development of the Desmo450 MX. His season included an 11th-place finish in Monster Energy Supercross and seventh overall in the Pro Motocross standings.

“This weekend’s race will be my last one as a professional racer, and then I will retire from the sport. I have been riding dirt bikes since I was three years old all around the world, and this life has been exactly what I wanted," posted the 32-year-old.

“It’s been a great year with all the team at Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing, and we will try to finish on high note and enjoy these last moments of racing together.”

After establishing himself as one of the leading riders in the MXGP paddock, Ferrandis moved to the United States with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing in 2017 and enjoyed tremendous success, as he captured back-to-back 250SX West titles in 2019 and 2020, added the 250MX crown in 2020 and then claimed the 450MX championship as a rookie in 2021.
