Jorge Prado on his 2026 contract, training plans and return to KTM

Jorge Prado spoke about his preparation and plans for the upcoming season during the Feld Media Days, as he touched on a host of topics, plus confirmed that he's on a one-year deal that includes the option of another year.

First on the agenda was him providing some details about his training regime. "Training is going very good at the moment. We've been training now for a few months, and I feel very good with the bike, with the team and I've been putting in a lot of laps," he said.

"So this was very needed for me. I'm still very new to Supercross. So my goal for this off-season was just to keep putting a lot of laps in so I could get comfortable with the bike and then with the tracks. So we did a great job, and I'm doing a great job with my training, and I feel very, very good now. So very excited for the 2026 season."

When asked if he had any setbacks, he reflected on the previous year, which was full of challenges. "Yeah, last year was crazy. I got into round one with only like 12 days of riding Supercross. So that was on a new bike. So it was very, very tough. But this year, it's been the opposite, coming back to a bike that I already know. With a great setup already since the beginning and then putting in a lot of laps at the test tracks, I've been just training very consistently," insisted the Spanish star.

He added that he hasn't had any issues or major crashes that have hindered him. "So just training. So, it's been just perfect. Still one month away, but till now everything's been very, very good."

When asked if he was going to Baker's Factory at all, he confirmed his plans. "So, I've been in California full-time. But yeah, I'm moving there tomorrow, and I will fly there tomorrow, and I will be there for like two weeks, come back for Christmas. And I will stay here for the first part of the season, but then my plan is to maybe go over again and train on the east coast."

When questioned whether he would just ride the tracks or actually start training with them, he clarified his approach, explaining: "No, I will be just training there. Just riding the tracks and living there. I discovered this year, especially in outdoors, that it's so much easier to travel from the east coast than from here, California. It's not easy. Just the time difference, the flights - it's not easy flying from here."

When discussing his goals, he took a measured approach. "My goal is to just make it through Supercross," admitted Prado. "I still never raced on, like, an east coast track. So I'm really looking forward to those kinds of tracks where the dirt is a bit softer, and I think it can be even better for me," he told the media in attendance.

"I like softer dirt, but I've been now riding a lot in California, so I'm getting used to hardpack. I don't have a lot of stress on results, but obviously I'm a racer, and if I'm behind the gate, you know, you always want to go there and be up top. But being realistic, I just want to make it through Supercross, and I don't really know what to expect. I don't even know my level right now or when I will be racing. I don't know how fast I can be with these guys because they are the best in."

Speaking about his happiness with KTM, he expressed his delight at being back in orange. "For me, it was very easy to get back - let's say back home. We got to know each other since I was 11 years old. So it was easy to get back in the team and get everything going - testing and riding - and for me, I don't have any complaints," he noted.

"We've been putting in a lot of work, and everything has been going very well at the moment. I mean, it's still early, but everything is nice. I'm very happy with the team, and I can't complain."
