Shoulder injury sidelines Dean Wilson for SMX

Dean Wilson's 2026 Monster Energy SMX World Championship campaign has come to a premature end after the veteran sustained a broken shoulder in a practice crash.

After narrowly missing the motos with 11th in the Columbus Wild Card, his latest setback on Tuesday will sideline him for the remaining SMX Playoff rounds and upcoming overseas races.

"Scary day yesterday. Everything was going great at the track, as I had a lap and a half left, and I was done. Unfortunately my chain derailed after I tripled on a tabletop and sent over the bars violently. Broken shoulder, and I have to say I’m lucky that’s all I did. Big shout-out to my boy Derek Drake for driving me to hospital. I see a specialist Friday for a time frame. Gutted, as I felt like I was in a good spot & sitting second in WSX and was looking forward to AUSX. But we will see how it goes. Just want to thank everyone for checking in on me. You’re all absolute legends."
